On August 6th 2017 at about 1:47 am the Fort St John RCMP were notified that a black Ford F-350 had been stolen within the last 5 minute’s from the 10300 block of 113th Ave, Fort St John.
Police were in the area immediately and spotted the stolen vehicle. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle however it fled from police. A few minutes later police again came upon the vehicle and observed it had crashed into a power pole on 112th Ave near 106th Street intersection.
The driver had fled the scene and was not located. “We suspect speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the collision. It’s remarkable that no member of the public was injured as the power pole was almost completely knocked over. Whomever stole this vehicle clearly has no regard for property or public safety” said Cst. SAGGAR of the Fort St John RCMP.
Police would like the Public to be aware that 112th Ave between 105th Street and 106th Street is blocked off while BC Hydro crews are working on restoring the power pole. Power to some homes in the area may be effected however BC Hydro advises the pole should be up and running later in the day.
The Fort St John RCMP is requesting anyone who witnessed this incident or has information on who the suspect(s) may be to please come forward and share their knowledge with police. You can report this by calling the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
