Vehicle Crashes into FSJ Businesses – 1 Suspect Arrested – 1 Unknown

Fort St John 2017-04-04 14:10 PDT

File # 2017-3174

At approximately 5:20am on April 4th 2017, the Fort St John RCMP responded to a report of multiple alarms that were triggered at the Totem Mall on 96th St. When Police arrived they determined a grey GMC pick up truck had driven into the mall doors and though the centre of the mall causing a significant amount of damage. There were no reports of anything stolen from the mall.

Shortly thereafter police responded to another report of break and enter and theft at Hi Performance Motorsports on 100th Ave. It was determined riding helmets were stolen from the store.

As a result of police efforts, the Fort St John RCMP can confirm that a 17 year old male was arrested for multiple counts of break and enter, theft under $5000 and mischief over $5000 in relation to both incidents, he is believed to be the driver of the GMC pick up. Police believe there was one other suspect who was in the vehicle at the time of the offence and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying this individual.

If you have any information regarding this investigation or the identity of the unknown suspect please call the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
