On October 13, 2019, at 3:45pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a theft of cooper wire at various jobsites along Highway 97 N in the Pink Mountain area of BC.
The thefts are reported to typically occur overnight on weekends. Property representative estimates the value of cooper wire stolen from one site to be about $10,000 and the various other sites to be approximately $100,000 in total.
The copper wire is usually stolen as large spools of approximately 200ft of wire. In addition two spools of several smaller extension cords and another spool of unthreaded wire were also taken.
If you observe suspicious rural activity at night or on weekends, especially larger trucks loading up or carrying large wooden spools of copper wire, please contact the police.
The Fort St John RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information in this matter to contact police.
