The Fort St. John RCMP are looking for a male suspect who robbed Casey’s Liquor Store this morning. At 9:15 am a male, carrying what appears to be a rifle, entered Casey’s Liquor Store and confronted two employees. He demanded the money they had on the premises and exited out the front door again. The suspect then went around to the back of the business and left down the alley towards 81st Street. RCMP Police Dog Services tracked the suspect a short distance but then lost the trail. It appears he may have left the area in a vehicle.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 5’8” with a medium build. He was wearing a shiny black jacket over a zip-up red hoodie, dark blue jeans that are faded over the thigh and knee area and black runners. He was also wearing a light coloured scarf or bandana over his face and mismatched gloves, one dark and one light coloured.
As a precautionary measure, because of their close proximity to Casey’s, the RCMP asked Robert Ogilvie School and North Peace Secondary School to keep their students inside for a few hours after the robbery occurred. The area is now safe.
The employees at Casey’s Liquor Store were not injured in the robbery.
The RCMP is asking anyone who may have seen the suspect or a vehicle leaving the area of Casey’s Liquor Store between 9:15 and 9:20 am to contact them at 250-787-8100. If you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
